Chief Executive Director Andy Samuels and Pastor Johmark Camenga are going to Kenya and Uganda.
They are serving as Instructors for the first 2 modules of the SDB Africa Bible College (ABC) and will conduct the first ABC seminar, October 4-9, 2021 at the RBM Retreat Center in Ngoliba, Kenya for face-to-face interaction and reinforcement of the at-home self-study material they have been engaging in over a three-month period. The modules being covered in this upcoming seminar are Bible Interpretation and Spiritual Maturity & Leadership Development. The students, who are pastors, assistant pastors and other church leaders, and who are eagerly engaged in their studies, are from Ethiopia, Egypt, Kenya, Malawi, Burundi, Tanzania, Zambia, South Africa, Rwanda, and Uganda. It is anticipated that this will be the first ever physical gathering of such a wide representation and cross-section of African Seventh Day Baptist leaders.
After the seminar, Pastors Samuels and Camenga will travel to neighboring Uganda to meet with SDB leaders there as they seek to transition to new conference leadership following the sudden and unexpected passing in June 2021 of Pastor Daniel Nsubuga, who had served as their General Secretary for about 15 years up to the time of his death.
Prayers for safety, resources, wisdom, and discipline are appreciated.
