Pastor Garfield Miller, Director of Outreach for the SDB Missionary Society, will begin 2022 by leading a team on return mission trips to Egypt and Ethiopia in Africa. The team will consist of Pastor Gordon Lawton and his wife Linda, as well as Pastor Mading Bol, a native South Sudanese. The Team departs on January 4. While the Lawtons will spend time ministering in Egypt before returning to the United States on January 11, Pastors Garfield and Mading will continue from Egypt on to Ethiopia, and return home on January 18.
Pastor Garfield had previously engaged in missions work in Ethiopia in 2014 & 2019 and in Egypt just six months ago. The ministry will consist of strengthening the spiritual and doctrinal foundation of the established churches, as well as visiting new groups which have recently been started in both countries. The majority of the Seventh Day Baptists in both Egypt and Ethiopia are of South Sudanese origin, and they are seeking to reach beyond their ethnicity to proclaim the Gospel to all communities in their adopted countries.
Prayer and other support are requested for this mission, as the Team prepares for what is anticipated to be another fulfilling time of ministry, bringing glory to our Lord, and actively advancing His kingdom.
