Was your church one of the 17 which contributed to the Missions Sabbath fundraiser? That special Sabbath was February 29, and the deadline for the submission of all funds raised was extended to April 30. We immensely thank all our churches which participated, and boosted the funds that the Missionary Society will now have to support and invest in the many SDB ministries around the world clamoring for our assistance. We are now in the process of tallying all the donations in anticipation of being able to announce the church which will win the trophy for contributing the most funds, as well as the runners-up.
If your church missed that opportunity, there is still time to get in on the ANNUAL GLOBAL MISSIONS AWARD, which will go to the church which contributes the most money to the Missionary Society for the period, August 1, 2019, to June 30, 2020. To be counted, funds must reach the Missionary Society by July 15, 2020. That includes gifts given by members of our churches, even if they’re given separately from the church.
The COVID-19 pandemic has brought with it, more reasons to be generous, and more reasons to share from what the Lord has entrusted to us. Yes, many of our people are enduring hardship at this time, but so many more of us are still seeing and experiencing the abundant provision of the Lord. Let us give and share with others as we are blessed ourselves.
“If anyone is poor among your fellow Israelites in any of the towns of the land the Lord your God is giving you, do not be hardhearted or tightfisted toward them. Rather, be openhanded and freely lend them whatever they need” – Deuteronomy 15:7-8
