Since the early 1980s, there have been two separate SDB Conferences in the Visayas and Mindanao regions of the Philippines: The United SDB Churches Mission Conference (USDB) and the Philippine SDB Conference (PSDB). The USDB Conference has been the recognized Conference over the years and different issues have prevented unity between them. Several attempts have been made towards unity however, it is in 2017 that both Conferences signed to move toward unity. Interestingly, in 2016 a third Conference was formed in the Quezon Province area, Grace SDB Manila.
Pastors Michael Spearl and Andrew Samuels, executives of the SDB World Federation, traveled to the Philippines in April 2019 on the invitation of the USDB and PSDB Conferences to facilitate a special unity meeting. At this meeting, a motion was made and carried that both Conferences form an umbrella group. Leaders of the Grace SDB Conference were not able to be present but pledged their support for the new alliance of SDBs in the Philippines.
