On the travel schedule of the Directors of the Missionary Society for 2020, was a visit to the churches in the United Kingdom. Leadership training would have been among the tasks accomplished on that visit. However, the reality of COVID-19 forced the postponement of those travel plans.
The corona virus may require adjustments to many aspects of our lives, but it does not mean everything has to stop. We serve a way-making God. So, alternative plans were made and the leadership training took place virtually. It was conducted with three groups of leaders; one session for the Deaconate, two sessions for Pastors, and two sessions for all church leaders. An approximate total of close to 20 persons drawn from the three SDB churches in the United Kingdom, immersed themselves in the training conducted by the Missionary Society Directors.
Eight “C’s” of leadership provided the foundation for the training. They are Character, Credibility, Constraint (humility), Competence, Commitment, Communication, Custody (stewardship), and Continuity (succession planning).
The Missionary Society Directors remain available to provide this and other aspects of missions and ministry training to our churches and conferences worldwide. Reach out to us, and we can work out a plan.
