Have you ever participated in a virtual 5K or similar event? Well, now you have an opportunity. With the coronavirus-driven cancellation of the 2020 gathering of the annual Seventh Day Baptist General Conference, some out-of-the-box thinking was needed to arrive at what conference-related events could still be a reality. And it was decided that the 5K is on, done virtually.
How will this be accomplished? Participants may run or walk anytime and anywhere, with anyone, although the date of Friday, July 31 is being targeted as the “official” day of the event. The event may even be completed on a treadmill. And it may be done in shorter segments up to a given deadline date. The event may be used to help with attaining personal physical goals of getting in shape or training. Time yourself, take pictures, and have fun. A website will be provided where registration will be done, and other pertinent information communicated. There will be a registration fee, and participants may also solicit sponsorship.
All the proceeds will go towards the Society’s COVID-19 relief ministry to SDB conferences globally. So, in 2020, there will be no gathering for conference, but there will be a 5K, virtually. Don’t miss out!
“…my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me – the task of testifying to the good news of God’s grace.”– Acts 20:24b
