For the past four years, the Missionary Society has faithfully hosted weekly prayer sessions every Tuesday at 9:00 PM EST. These gatherings have been spiritually enriching, and we warmly invite all SDB members with a heart for prayer and missions to join us as we continue seeking God together.
At our last Conference, the Interest Committee on Missions recommended incorporating fasting into our prayer rhythm. On February 24, 2026, we observed our first Monthly Missionary Society Fast. It was a meaningful and encouraging time, marked by strong participation and a spirit of unity. Throughout the day, participants fasted while meditating on Psalm 91, interceding for the mission fields in England and Ethiopia, and covering in prayer the team serving in Uganda, Ethiopia, and South Sudan. We concluded the day together with prayer on Zoom at 9:00 PM ET. You can see the fasting instructions we sent out in February here.
We are grateful for how God is deepening this time of consecration and invite you to participate in our next Monthly Fast on Tuesday, March 31, 2026. You may fast for the full day or for a portion of the day, and we will gather again on Zoom at 9:00 PM EST to close in united prayer. Please mark your calendar and join us as we seek God for the advancement of His mission. Please look out for additional details in the coming weeks.
Reflection
Prayer and fasting remind us that mission ultimately belongs to God. While strategies, partnerships, and plans matter, the work of the Gospel advances through the power of the Holy Spirit. When believers pause to seek God together through prayer and fasting, we acknowledge our dependence on Him and invite His guidance, protection, and provision for those serving around the world.
Prayer Point
Pray that God would deepen a spirit of prayer and consecration among our churches as we seek Him together. Ask Him to strengthen those serving in England, Ethiopia, Uganda, and South Sudan, and pray that the Gospel would take root and flourish in every place where His people faithfully labor.
Reflection Question
How might God be inviting you to participate more intentionally in prayer and fasting for the advancement of His mission?
