This spring, Danny and Danita Lee spent nearly two months serving across East Africa alongside several ministry partners. The first portion of their trip took place in Uganda, where they were joined by Pastor Fred Maduka of Malawi for much of their stay. Pastor
Garfield Miller also joined the team during the final week in Uganda. Together, they focused on evangelism, leadership development, and the encouragement of local churches.
Encouraging Churches and Leaders
During their time in Uganda, the team visited seven different churches and met with pastors and leaders from across the conference. A pastors' conference brought leaders together for encouragement, teaching, and planning for the future. One of the most important outcomes of the meetings was the appointment of six conference leaders who will help guide and strengthen the work moving forward.
Plans are already in place for continued leadership development through regular communication, monthly meetings, and ongoing support. A communication network is also being established to help leaders stay connected and encourage one another more consistently.
The trip also included a large three-day outreach gathering in Mukula with more than 500 people in attendance. The outreach brought together local churches, community leaders, and visitors from the surrounding area. More than 30 people gave their lives to Christ, while many others recommitted themselves to Jesus and to sharing the gospel in their communities.
Providing Resources for Ministry
Throughout the trip, churches received Bibles in six languages, along with other ministry resources to strengthen discipleship and outreach. These Bibles will be critical, as many churches in the region continue to grow steadily but have limited access to biblical resources and training materials.
The team also spent time discussing long-term sustainability and ways churches can strengthen ministry through practical local initiatives. These conversations reflected a growing desire among leaders not only to expand the church spiritually but also to develop healthy and sustainable ministry foundations for the future.
Looking Ahead
The relationships built during this trip reinforced the importance of ongoing partnership, mentorship, and encouragement. Church leaders expressed gratitude not only for the teaching and resources but also for the reminder that they are part of a larger global church family walking alongside them.
There are still many opportunities for continued development and support in Uganda and throughout the region. As these churches continue to grow, strong leadership, discipleship, and unity will remain essential.
Reflection
The growth of the Church is strongest when believers walk together. Scripture reminds us in Ecclesiastes 4:9, “Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor.”
The ministry in Uganda showed the power of encouragement, shared leadership, and partnership in the gospel. God often strengthens His people not only through preaching and teaching but also through faithful relationships that remind us that we are not serving alone.
Prayer Point
Pray for the newly established leadership team in Uganda as they guide the churches forward. Ask God to give them wisdom, unity, courage, and endurance as they continue to strengthen churches and share the gospel throughout their communities.
Reflection Question
Who has God placed in your life to strengthen and encourage your faith? How might He be calling you to do the same for someone else?
